RICK MERRILL
Upcoming Shows
Growing up in Winter Park, Florida Rick was no stranger to live
performance. He first appeared in piano recitals at age eight,
learned to play trumpet by ten and guitar by age twelve. His
passion for music landed him in rock bands throughout his high
school and college years. While serving a tour in Vietnam Rick
was introduced to  Blue Grass and Country music and learned to
play the mandolin. After returning home he and brother Jim
formed the Merrill Brothers, wearing flowered shirts and playing
their form of early Buffett, Clapton, Eagles and Southern Rock.
They were joined two years later by brother Dave and created a
Southern Rock guitar army, The Merrill Brothers Band. They
wrote and performed all original music and played venues
throughout the southeast, fronted groups like The Marshall
Tucker Band, America, John Sebastian, Taj Mahall, Johnny Van
Zant, Firefall, Mitch Rider, Nicolette Larson, Nantucket and
Cactus, to name a few, and continued to write, record and
perform to audience delights.
Today Rick lives in the tranquil setting of Mount Dora, Florida
keeping alive the classic rock, blues, southern rock and original
music that has been his inspiration and passion.
